Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
Mayfly.wiki is operated by an individual publisher based in Heidelberg, Germany. For privacy-related matters, contact us at: [email protected]
As we are based in Germany (EU), this policy is drafted in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following personal data:
- Email address — when you subscribe to the DISPATCH newsletter via our subscription form.
- Usage data — server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and used solely for security and diagnostics.
We do not collect: names, phone numbers, payment information, location data beyond country level, or any sensitive personal data as defined under GDPR Article 9.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Newsletter delivery — your email is used to send you the DISPATCH newsletter (monthly) and occasional updates about our services.
- Service improvement — aggregate, anonymised usage data helps us understand which content is most valuable.
- Security — server logs help us identify and respond to malicious traffic.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — newsletter subscription. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email, or by contacting us.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — server security logs. Our legitimate interest is protecting the security and integrity of our services.
5. Third-Party Processors
We share your email address with the following processor under a data processing agreement:
- Beehiiv, Inc. — newsletter platform and email delivery. Data may be processed in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. See Beehiiv Privacy Policy.
- Google LLC (Google Fonts) — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. This makes a network request to Google servers. See Google Privacy Policy. To avoid this, use a browser with font caching or a privacy extension.
We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we do not sell your data.
6. Data Retention
- Newsletter subscribers — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Server logs — maximum 30 days, then automatically purged.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
As a data subject in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — request deletion of your data.
- Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data.
- Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for newsletter at any time (unsubscribe link in every email).
To exercise any of these rights, email: [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Baden-Württemberg State Commissioner for Data Protection (LfDI): www.baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use minimal cookies. For full details, see our Cookie Policy. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the Cookie Settings panel.
9. International Data Transfers
We are based in Germany (EU). Our newsletter processor (Beehiiv) is based in the United States. Such transfers are conducted under appropriate GDPR safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).
10. Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for business professionals and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
